Going public on this so you can signal boost the fuck out of it.

I did not write this: Source is here:

I, like many others, am only now learning of the horrific crime(s) in Steubinville, Ohio.

“In August of 2012, a 16 year old girl incurred the wrath of her ex-boyfriend and he initiated a revenge that resulted in her being unconscious, dragged from party to party, and being stripped, subject to rape, forced oral copulation, sodomy and being urinated on by multiple people. A 12 minute video was recorded and posted via social media. The police have since “lost” this video. (Please note that this pathetic excuse for a man now attends Ohio State University on a scholarship.)

During this assault, witnesses made light of the incident and posted pictures to instagram, and joked, along with “play by play” accounts on twitter. One such example was “No one sleeps through a wang in the butt.” A small number of tweets have been preserved in various news articles, but there were a great deal more than is currently being shown.

The girl who originally tried to preserve the evidence in screenshots has been sued for defamation and her posted evidence has since been taken down. Three others are also being sued for defamation.

Recently, there was a hearing for two teen athletes, where they are being held, without bail, for rape, though the kidnapping charges have been dropped. Overwhelming community support showed up, including school officials, were in the courtroom FOR THE RAPISTS. This is where it gets bad.

The coach, the volunteer coach, and many people in the community are blaming gang rape of an unconscious girl on the girl, herself. No one is coming forward to help law enforcement. The local prosecutor’s son is on the football team.

This is not an isolated incident. More girls have come forward, including a 14 year old girl. Even worse, one of the official’s email accounts has a number of pictures of young girls in various compromising positions, demonstrating that this has happened many times before and is accepted within this community.

Worse, the people who did this have been referring to themselves as “RAPE CREW.”

There are multiple conflicts of interest in their local justice system and they have paid out a number of settlements for police misconduct. Corruption is rampant as a result of these conflicts of interest, and many people in local government, along with school officials have been making a concerted effort to cover this up.” (distonanced)

I’ve been watching interviews and reports on the rapes occurring in New Delhi with disgust, and now I find that a town in the United States has the SAME mindset - that it was the woman’s fault - that the men shouldn’t be dishonored or punished for what they have done…

I just quit. I am sickened.

If you want more in-depth information, please visit:

Facts posted have been cross checked by anonymous locals.

SIGN THE PETITION to have everyone involved by processed by juvenile court so real justice can be had:

Ok I've kept quiet about this until now.

I've been thinking about this a lot. I actually wrote my "Dumb ass" Congressman about it and was given the same crap answer as last time I wrote him. But this one is a bit more serious. This will affect EVERYONE. Not just Americans. Due to the nature of the Internet.

SOPA ( AKA: Stop Online Piracy Act) according to Wikipedia will "The originally proposed bill would allow the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as copyright holders, to seek court orders against websites accused of enabling or facilitating copyright infringement. Depending on who requests the court orders, the actions could include barring online advertising networks and payment facilitators such as PayPal from doing business with the allegedly infringing website, barring search engines from linking to such sites, and requiring Internet service providers to block access to such sites. The bill would make unauthorized streaming of copyrighted content a crime, with a maximum penalty of five years in prison for 10 pieces of music or movies within six months. The bill also gives immunity to Internet services that voluntarily take action against websites dedicated to infringement, while making liable for damages any copyright holder who knowingly misrepresents that a website is dedicated to infringement."

That is The House Bill.

This one is in the Senate.

PROTECT IP Act (AKA: Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act of 2011; United States Senate Bill S.968) according to Wikipedia again: "The PROTECT IP Act[8] defines infringement as distribution of illegal copies, counterfeit goods or anti-DRM technology, and infringement exists if "facts or circumstances suggest [the site] is used, primarily as a means for engaging in, enabling, or facilitating the activities described". The bill says it does not alter existing substantive trademark or copyright law.[9]
The bill provides for "enhancing enforcement against rogue websites operated and registered overseas", and authorizes the United States Department of Justice to seek a court order in rem against websites dedicated to infringing activities themselves, if through due diligence an individual owner or operator cannot be located.[10] The bill requires the Attorney General to serve notice to the defendant.[11] Once the court issues an order, it could then be served on financial transaction providers, Internet advertising services, Internet service providers, and information location tools to require them to stop financial transactions with the rogue site and stop linking to it.[12] The term "information location tool" is borrowed from the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and is understood to refer to search engines, but could cover other sites that link to content."

I am bringing this up because of an article I read stated that most Britons don't even know about this and they don't even realize that this will affect them just as much as it will affect us. This is not a US Matter as much as it is an International Matter.

If you don't agree with this at all, please write your Congressman and your Senator. International friends, please let your other American friends know about this I'm making it public as to spread the word.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. Spread the word.

Repost from janamelie Mississippi Personhood Amendment

Okay, so I don't usually do this, but this is an issue near and dear to me and this is getting very little no attention in the mainstream media.

Mississippi is voting on November 8th on whether to pass Amendment 26, the "Personhood Amendment". This amendment would grant fertilized eggs and fetuses personhood status.

Putting aside the contentious issue of abortion, this would effectively outlaw birth control and criminalize women who have miscarriages. This is not a good thing.

Jackson Women's Health Organization is the only place women can get abortions in the entire state, and they are trying to launch a grassroots movement against this amendment. This doesn't just apply to Mississippi, though, as Personhood USA, the group that introduced this amendment, is trying to introduce identical amendments in all 50 states.

What's more, in Mississippi, this amendment is expected to pass. It even has Mississippi Democrats, including the Attorney General, Jim Hood, backing it.

The reason I'm posting this here is because I made a meager donation to the Jackson Women's Health Organization this morning, and I received a personal email back hours later - on a Sunday - thanking me and noting that I'm one of the first "outside" people to contribute.

So if you sometimes pass on political action because you figure that enough other people will do something to make a difference, make an exception on this one. My RSS reader is near silent on this amendment. I only found out about it through a feminist blog. The mainstream media is not reporting on it.

If there is ever a time to donate or send a letter in protest, this would be it.

What to do?

- Read up on it. Wake Up, Mississippi is the home of the grassroots effort to fight this amendment. Daily Kos also has a thorough story on it.

- If you can afford it, you can donate at the site's link.

- You can contact the Democratic National Committee to see why more of our representatives aren't speaking out against this.

- Like this Facebook page to help spread awareness.

This comes from an article by rachelmanija entitled, Say Yes to Gay YA.
(click the link for the full article)

Our novel Stranger has five viewpoint characters; one, Yuki Nakamura, is
gay and has a boyfriend. Yuki's romance, like the heterosexual ones in
the novel, involves nothing more explicit than kissing.

An agent from a major agency, one which represents a bestselling YA novel in the same genre as ours, called us.

The agent offered to sign us on the condition that we make the gay
character straight, or else remove his viewpoint and all references to
his sexual orientation.

This isn't about that specific agent; we'd gotten other rewrite requests before this one. Previous agents had also offered to take a second look if we did rewrites… including cutting the viewpoint of Yuki, the gay character.

It's time to stand up and demand change. Spread the word everywhere if you are just as angry and outraged by this.
